It's All About You Interview With The Mum Club
These two crazy cats otherwise known as The Mum Club (Lauren left, Jess right) are two mamas on a mission. They met through their England rugby player husbands and struck up a beautiful friendship, made gorgeous babies and now are an unstoppable duo blogging and hosting awesome events mainly in Manchester and Northampton where they are both based. Little did we know that when we came together, alongside the stunning Our Kid store to work on a Mama Rules launch event, that it would sell out in one day. I told you they were unstoppable, oh and did I mention they are blooming gorgeous too? Thank you to everyone who brought a ticket it means so much. To celebrate here is their It's All About You interview.
My favourite out OUT look:
J: When we get the chance, I love to get dressed up. High heels is a must as I am a mear 5ft5 and the husband is a towering 6ft7. I do wear black, a lot. So LBD is my choice.
L: I’m more of a -if I can get away with wearing trainers everywhere I will kind of girl, but even if I can’t I tend to stick to something fairly tomboy, my favourite look is a bit rock chick so leather trousers, slogan tee, ..and heels…if I must.
My favourite in IN look:
J: When I am in, comfort is key. I love a comfy tracksuit, or gym wear. I am SO glad loungewear is back in.
L: I’m with Jess I wear gym leggings ALOT. But my ultimate homeware is PJs, preferably silk and oversized. The more grandad the better.
Knackered mama style tip:
J: Always do your hair. If your hair looks great everything else can wait.
L: Pick 2 or 3 simple outfits that you know look good and are practical and rotate them. Use them like a uniform so you don’t have to think each day in the beginning months. Oh and invest in good basics.
Palm print or florals?
J & L : We are IN LOVE with the Palm print
Flamingos or pineapples?
J & L: Flamingos all the way.
Parenting rule you’ve abandoned:
J: I am a bit of a stubborn goat so tend to stick by what I say but before kids I used to say I would not bribe my future children with sweets. That one went way out the window.
L: Not letting my baby sleep in bed with me.
Last time you had a full night's sleep (over 7 hours):
J: Last night. (Muaha) I used a style of cry it out with both my children and they sleep really well. Partially down to my need for sleep and my husband working away a lot. Not everyone likes it but it worked for us.
L: I have a 8 week old… so 8 weeks ago!
The first thing you do once the kids hit the sack:
J: Cook with a glass of wine and some awful reality tv on. I love cooking and I love wine, so that is my perfect me time.
L: Shower or hit the sack too!!
If motherhood were a cocktail it would be called:
J: Naughty Step
L: Slippery nipple, actually i think thats a shot!!
Has a hangover since having a child ever been worth it?
J: LOL NO. I once had a New Years eve party with some girlfriends. The next day whilst I was vomiting into the loo my children drew all over my bedroom in red lipstick, we had to have new carpet, my husband said he was disappointed in me.
L: I’m yet to experience one. My husband wants to keep me home to retrain me, Jess wants me to go out and get totally shtifaced on the first night! I’ll let you know..
Favourite thing your kid/s says:
J: My Daughter Nell calls her doll Fat Susan. This is my latest favourite.
L: She doesn’t talk yet, but the whole smiling when you pass wind thing is pretty cute.
24hrs without the kid/s, what’s your plan?
J: Shopping, Spa, Dinner, Drinks , Party with the hubs ….no hangover.
L: I’d probably sleep for a good 14 hours, then have a full body massage, a scrub, a manicure, pedicure, a blow dry, a tan, my makeup done then a boozy date with my hubs.
Essential item for motherhood survival:
J & L : Mates!
Would you put on make up to go and buy make-up wipes?
J & L: NO WAY. We love makeup but we don’t wear it every day especially not to pop the shop.
Most embarrassing motherhood moment:
J: Probably when my daughter caught us doing the dirt and asked me ‘ What are you doing to daddy?’ Like i was the only one involved.
L: With the father inlaw when Ronnie was 2 weeks old.. going downstairs to say hi, then catching myself in the mirror post greeting to find two massive wet patches on my nips..LEAKAGE
Mama super hero power you would choose:
J: Make veg tastes like chocolate.
L: The ability to be asleep and awake at the same time.
What do you wish you’d been told about motherhood beforehand?
J & L: Everyone finds it hard and no one talks about it. …et voila, The Mum Club
Three words to describe yourself:
J: Slightly controlling, Enthusiastic and laid back.
L: Perfectionist, Loyal, Creative
Exciting upcoming plans:
We have so much in the pipeline for The Mum Club, from events, to walks across the country, to product, keep your eyes peeled and all shall be revealed.
